Well, it's official

I have no other yarn than my Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran that you see plastered over this blog. I am quite depressed. See, thing is, I have to drive 40min. away just to get the luxury yarn I crave, and it is twice as expensive for me to buy it, because it is in British currency...their dollar is called "pound" and their pounds are crushing the US dollar. The currency exchange rate last time I checked was GBP1.87 to $1.00, so I end up paying $80 for yarn that should have cost $40...it's depressing.

So then I think, okay, I'll just buy all my yarn from the States where $1 is $1, right? Then I gotta pay shipping, handling, hey watch out for paying customs, and then it takes FOREVER for me to get anything in the mail...

I am at my wits end, because honestly, I am tired of looking at this same chartruese colored yarn!!

Almost forgot to invite y'all to the Poncho Along!

I've decided to do the Poncho Knit-A-Long. (Click on the button to the right, if you want to join) as if I haven't promised myself I would start on enough things, but I really want one of those oh-so-trendy ponchos, or shawls or capelet things... I was thinking of doing the Berroco Linda Poncho (Free pattern on their site http://www.berroco.com) but I think I will do the Paris Loop. I can't think of the lady who made the pattern, but try http://www.magknits.com and look for the Paris Loop pattern. I am pretty sure this is the one I will do. And I am so mad because I just missed a sale at Herrschner's where the Gedifra Cicco yarn that the pattern uses was only $3.75! It is usually $10! I am so mad!! How did I miss this sale? I signed up for their newsletter so that I won't miss anymore, but man, am I ticked!

British Drivers Are so Nice!

I think drivers in England are the most polite drivers on the planet. Just the other day I was waiting to make a left onto a busy intersection and some nice lady stopped and waved for me to go. Me, not being used to this random act of kindness, I hesitated. She waved her hands around frantically, beckoning for me to just go! So I went. I couldn't believe how sweet that was because she had miles of traffic behind her. I am already self conscious about driving in England because of my vehicle. The 2004 Nissan Quest. As you can see, it is rather large. It is one of those vehicles that is supposed to blurr the lines between SUV and Minivan. I love it. Just not over here where the roads are about as big as my body and I often get trapped driving--I'll just drive in somewhere and find out that I have no room to turn around. I once almost drove off a cliff trying to turn around in a space meant for a Ford Focus. Let's just say, I was scared out of my wits that day. Nevertheless, I do love this vehicle. But the real reason we got it? The salesman told us it was the safest thing on 4 wheels...and since we had just had the baby...well, you can see which choice we made. This picture is from Nissan's website, however this is the exact model and color we have, so I figured I would post it and that way I wouldn't have to edit our license plate out. We call our van "Smoky."

Knitting my baby a sweater...

My work in progress is a sweater that I am knitting for my baby. It's from the Debbie Bliss Baby Knits for Beginners. I am doing the boat neck sweater. And I learned a lot from this "first-project-that-is-bigger-than-a-scarf" project. And that is, I was knitting wrong. I will post pics of how bass-ackwards my stitches were looking. Technically I should probably frog the whole thing, but I won't. It's my first sweater. I need to have it to look back on and laugh.

Now would also be a good time to mention that my LYS sucks, I love the people, but the yarn selection is the pitts, and to make matters worse, when you order a yarn, get ready to wait 30+ days!

Secret Pal III

Wow, I am so excited! As you can see my blog is very blah and bland and empty looking, but I am saving up the cash to get a snazzy one made for me by someone more talented than I as far as HTML goes...

But the thing I am excited about is that I knit (and sew and quilt) and I just joined Secret Pal III! I am really very happy to be a part of this and if I can figure out how to add that cute lil button, I will do it.

Inside of the Holder...

Here is an inside shot of the needle holder I made from the pattern in the "Stitch n Bitch" book. I cannot wait for "Stitch n Bitch Nation" to come out!

Knitting Needle Case

Here is the outside. I used upholstery fabric and it made it quite bulky, but I love the colors--blue and yellow are my favorite combinations!
